SUMMARY:Oak Folk: An Evening of Folk Music with James Dixon
DESCRIPTION:Oak Folk – James Dixon\n£15.00\n\n16 October 2026, 8pm\nKett’s Books, 11 Market Place, Wymondham, NR18 0AS\nTickets £15\nDoors 7.30pm, performance starts at 8pm\nThere will be a bar with a range of locally & ethically sourced drinks. Complementary tea & coffee is available and book browsing is encouraged!\n“Chris Wood told me years ago that Tradition must be respected but convention can be broken, I try to live and work like that, always”.\nHailing from Suffolk (“please don’t hold that against me!”) but now living and working in the west country, James’ style infuses Celtic and Cornish folk with blues. His appreciation and understanding of the Mississippi tradition was perfectly summed up by Seasick Steve, who not only described James as “a soul Brother” with “his fingers in the mud”, but paid the deepest compliment of saying he is, quite simply, “the best support act I’ve ever had”. This is a recommended Oak Folk session for all – but particularly for those who prefer their folk performed with more of a bluesy twang.\nHis songwriting is deeply rooted in a sense of place and we’re thrilled that he’ll be bringing his soulful blend of folk to close out our 2026 season.\n“Melodic, soulful and simply beautiful” – BBC Introducing\n“An encyclopaedia of soul…” – Seasick Steve\n\n
