Market Cross
Overview
The town received its first market charter from King John in 1204, a privilege regranted by Henry VI in 1440 and memorialised in our iconic Market Cross, where you will find the Tourist Information Centre.
Inside the Market Cross you can also see a new timeline display illustrating our town’s history and immerse yourself in a virtual reality experience of the devastating battle of 1549 for control of Norwich, which sealed the fate of Kett’s Rebellion.

Easter to October: Monday, Wednesday & Friday 10am – 2.30pm, Saturday and Bank Holidays 10am – 1.30pm
November to Easter: Friday & Saturday 10.30am – 12.30pm
Closed Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Years Day.
