16: Becketswell Road

Opposite, and no longer accessible to visitors, is the small spring called Becket’s Well. This attracted thousands of pilgrims in the Middle Ages. Many Wymondham people believed that the water had curative properties. The road crosses the River Tiffey.

WALK>> turn left towards the River Tiffey, and go across the bridge to find Wymondham Abbey Station on the right. This is also close to the other end of the River Tiffey walk highlighted earlier on No 9 Damgate.
