17: Wymondham Abbey Station
Overview
Wymondham Abbey Station is part of the Wymondham to Dereham railway run by Mid Norfolk Railway. It was closed in 1969 but has been revived and is the longest heritage railway in East Anglia. Beyond the level crossing on the right, on the side of the ridge which separates the Tiffey from Dyke Beck, is Cavick House, the finest example of a Queen Anne house in the area. Somewhere in the fields opposite is thought to have been a property, or possibly the tannery owned by Robert Kett, leader of the rebellion of 1549.
WALK>> retrace your steps back up Becketswell Road and continue past the Abbey until you are on Vicar Street and continue until you see the flint stone gateway on the right next to No 7.
