Wymondham Baptist Church

Overview

Wymondham Baptist Church is a Christian fellowship with a heart for the needs of the community. We are faith based but not faith biased and give anyone and everyone a warm welcome.

Each Sunday we have worship that is open to everyone. Our vision is to be ‘an authentic church with a place for everyone’. We have youth church for children in the primary age range and in the secondary age range.  We regularly hold all age services and quarterly hold café church where we start with breakfast and then have a ‘different’ church service with activities for everyone to engage in.

As a fellowship we run Roots Community Café each Wednesday and Friday morning from 10.00a.m. – 1.00p.m. as well as Thrive@Roots on Tuesday afternoon for the young people at high school.

The Trussell Trust run a Foodbank from the church each Friday morning between 11.00a.m. and 12 noon and the Menscraft Organisation also use our premises for their meeting each Thursday afternoon.  During the winter months we open as a Warm Space on the second and fourth Thursday of each month.

On alternate Fridays we run a Youth Group from 6.30p.m. for young people of secondary school age.

We are an enrolled A Roche ECO church and seek to encourage everyone to care for the world that God has given us.  We welcome the local community to share our church garden which we have recently developed.

We are a very active church involved in many ways with our community and seek to be a place of refuge and help.  We have many links with other community groups and our local council.

We are looking to extend our building, so that we can offer more to those who need help in our local community.   You can see a picture of what this extension will look like in the attached photos.

WYMONDHAM BAPTIST CHURCH HOME FROM HOME

There’s a Warm Welcome at Home from Home in Wymondham Baptist Church, as the clocks go back this winter With fuel prices increasing and the days getting shorter and darker, Wymondham Baptist Church Home from Home will be opening its doors as a Warm Welcome Space to bring people together this winter. As the clocks go back at the end of October, ushering in darker and colder months, Home from Home is here to support anyone struggling with loneliness or heating their homes.

WBC Home from Home wants to ensure that everyone knows how to find a place of belonging; we want to make sure people know our doors are open from Thursday, 7th November and ready to welcome them. Research from the Warm Welcome Campaign shows that although there are 4,000 Warm Welcome Spaces across the country, awareness is low, and only 18% of the population knows how to find their local space.

Home from Home Is a warm, welcoming, safe and free space that is open to everyone in our community. We will be open every Thursday from 7th November from 1.30p.m. – 4.30p.m. Warm snacks, soup, tea and coffee, will be freely available to everyone who visits us. There will be games to play, activities to engage in, jigsaw puzzles to do as well as people to chat with.

We want everyone to find a welcome and warm space, where they can chat and meet new people. It is a wonderful opportunity to connect with others, make new friends and have some fun. We’d love you to come along and get to know us over a cuppa. Spread the word so everyone can find our Warm Welcome Space – Home from Home at Wymondham Baptist Church, Queen Street, Wymondham.

As well as Home from Home we also have a Community Café called Roots which is open every Wednesday and Friday morning from 10.00a.m. – 1.00p.m. and our youth café – Thrive@Roots which is open on Tuesday afternoon – 3.15p.m. – 5.00p.m.
