Medieval Knight at The Abbey
I’m delighted to be able to invite you to travel back in time to medieval Wymondham on Wednesday July 2nd 5-8pm at Wymondham Abbey. Join us in the midst of the Wars of the Roses as the Houses of York and Lancaster battle for the English throne. Numerous medieval interactive activities will take place on the evening including falconry, archery, music and story-telling. Learn about and handle medieval weapons with a soldier, be on your best behaviour around the medieval executioner and learn to cavort and entertain with the jester. Can you solve the puzzle of how Henry Tudor escaped from the Bretons? Or just dress the part of someone from England in 1460. For the very intrepid there will be the chance to train as a medieval knight including fighting, jousting, questing and designing your own coat of arms. Food and drink will be available to purchase. Tickets can be bought in advance using the QR code on the poster or on the evening itself.
The event is an extension of the educational event that we’re running for all of our Year 7 students that week at the Abbey. A huge debt of gratitude is owed to YellowBrick Mortgages, Wymondham Town Council, the Friends of Wymondham High, the Margaret Reeve foundation and the Abbey itself for making the event financially viable.
