Wymondham Abbey – daily 10am – 4pm

It’s one of the grandest religious buildings in East Anglia, over 900 years old and in the heart of our historic town with free entry, displays, children’s activities, guided tours – pre-book here and beautiful grounds that are the perfect picnic spot with tables overlooking the ha-ha, meadows and medieval style herb garden so you can soak up the atmosphere. Why not treat yourselves to some delicious takeaways from our bakeries, deli, cafes or pubs and enjoy.

 

Free Extraordinary Extinct Prehistoric 20 July – 3 September

School’s out for summer and so is the sun! If you’re looking for something free to keep the kids entertained, make sure to take part in the Free Extraordinary Extinct Prehistoric Quest in Wymondham to discover the creatures that once stomped around Norfolk! Step outside and unearth the Extraordinary Extinct™ prehistoric creatures that once called Norfolk their home. From colossal marine reptiles to woolly rhinos and giant hippos!

Kids Non-Stop Summer Fun 1 – 15 August

It’s not just rugby at Wymondham Rugby Football Club, Barnard Fields, off Bray Drive, Reeve Way NR18 0GQ this summer join in with:

  • Touch Rugby – Skills, Fun & Games aimed at kids aged between 8 & 11 – £5 Entry – Food Van & Bar Open. – £5 per head only 20 spaces available. (Tickets for Children Only)
  • Sports Day hosted by Beyond Any Limits – Traditional Sports Day activities from Welly Flinging to a three legged race, Parent welcome to join in. – Food Van & Bar Open. – £8 per head only 30 spaces available. (Tickets for Children Only)
  • Magic Breakfast with Crazy Corin – Enjoy a buffet breakfast with your family followed by a Magic Show & Balloon Animals – £10 per head only 80 spaces available.  (Tickets for both Kids & Parents)

Wymondham Abbey Summer Fair Saturday 3 August 11-5

Something for everyone at the Abbey Days Summer Fair with 60+ stalls full of amazing makers and producers, live music, Punch & Judy Shows, magic shows, grab your dancing shoes and join the Big Abbey Zumba with Team Rachel Zumba being filmed by drone!

Mid Norfolk Railway 1940’s Weekend 3-4 August 9.30am – 6.15pm

The Mid-Norfolk Railway East Anglia’s longest heritage railway popular 1940’s Weekend is back at Wymondham Abbey Station Becketswell Road, NR18 9PH just around the corner from the town centre.

Wymondham Abbey Station and field will have historic displays, entertainment, food and a beer tent. Dereham Station will feature a host of displays (including firepower demonstrations), vehicles, characters and stalls, providing a unique opportunity to explore our history and experience it in person, Yaxham station the British Forces are holding the line, then on to Hardingham which is under occupation. Resident Steam locomotive, BR Standard 4MT 80078 will be joined by a guest locomotive, the returning GWR Large Prairie 4144 (Courtesy of Didcot Railway Centre), with both locomotives transporting you back in time along the line.

Drop in Cafe 6 & 13 August 1pm – 4pm for 11 – 18-year-olds

Drop in, play pool, darts, grab a free milkshake and hotdog, and even plug in the PA if you’re a musician and have a jam,  keyboard and drums available too, the space is yours at That Little Norfolk Studio  Abbey Schoolrooms, Church Street, NR18 0PH

 

Americana Live Music 8 August 7pm

Enjoy a transatlantic blend of soul, blues, and magical vocals as two sides of the pond come together to collaborate at That Little Norfolk Studio Abbey Schoolrooms, Church Street, NR18 0PH. Dove & BowEevil alongside the Gypsy Candlesticks all the way from the deep south of America. Dove and BowEevil Hailing from the swampy marshlands of Norfolk this Americana Soul n Blues Duo comprises Lauren Dove on soaring vocals and Mark Howes on roaring guitar. New Beginnings Le Sankey Arts 13 – 18 August

An exhibition of art work created by painter Leticia, photographer Steven and friends. Bringing together and capturing the beauty, light, mystery and emotive qualities of the Norfolk landscape.

Wymondham Art Society’s 45th anniversary Annual Exhibition 27 August – 1 September

Celebrating members’ artwork from the last year in all styles and mediums – paint, pastel and pencil.  Over 100 paintings will be on sale plus original greetings cards and unframed work.  Come and vote for your favourite painting!

 

Free Children’s Craft Wednesday’s 10.30am – 12pm

Drop in and join in crafty sessions at our award winning Kett’s Books on the Market Place.

Summer is a great time to get arty. Sit in the Start Studio’s beautiful courtyard with a paint brush and coffee and soak up the sun or pop along on those rainy days to keep the children busy. They have different activities to get involved in for all ages. Release your inner artist and paint a canvas. Free Family Summer Fun Day 31 August 10am – 2pm
All ages can enjoy a day of fun activities from outdoor games, taster local clubs, face painting, baby hand & foot printing and more! South Norfolk Leisure will have taster classes taking places, along with outdoor games provided by Kids Camp. The Swim School team will also be present, spreading the important message of water safety, whilst also offering information about Swim School at Wymondham Leisure Centre. Refreshments will be available.
