Wymondham Art Society’s 45th anniversary Annual Exhibition 27 August – 1 September
Celebrating 45th anniversary with members’ artwork from the last year in all styles and mediums – paint, pastel and pencil. Over 100 paintings on sale plus original greetings cards and unframed work.
Making Waves 3-8 September
Using fabric, thread, yarn, paint, print and other media to capture and interpret the title in different of ways. Techniques range from conventional embroidery to contemporary use of materials demonstrating the unique mix of the group and variety of training, experience and backgrounds.
First Monday Creating A Moment 10 – 15 September
Eight photographers show giving a varied exhibition displaying many photographic genres and techniques.
Autumn Concerts from choirs, organ recitals, Wymondham Symphony Orchestra to ‘Requiem in a Day’ COME and SING WORKSHOP and CONCERT Join composer Matthew Coleridge for an inspiring and uplifting day of choral singing. Djembe and Percussion Workshop with Ubuntu Spirit 1 September 6-8pm The Abbey Schoolroom, Church Street NR18 0PH
Enjoy this two hour session of Djembe and the immense feeling of wellbeing through the mediative rhythms. Absolutely no experience required. Alex will guide you through this session and instruments will be provided. The focus of the evening will be a Nigerian celebration rhythm, bringing you into the present and simply enjoying the moment, book here

Norfolk Heritage Open Days is England’s biggest festival of history and culture, and here in our fine county, we’re spoiled to have such a vast wealth of both! It’s the perfect activity for anyone into their history, especially locally:
Visit Mid Norfolk Railway’s Wymondham Abbey Station and discover just what was involved in getting trains back on the abandoned railway between Wymondham and Dereham – and now, in keeping it safely operational? And where does Wymondham Abbey Station fit in?
Short group guided tours of the Abbey on Friday 13th, Saturday 14th & Sunday 15th September, 11am, 12noon, 2pm & 3pm.

Superb show which pays tribute to the illustrious and wide-ranging music and career of Neil Diamond. Celebrating 58 years since his first hit single and sales of over 130 million records, the show features hit after hit from Neil Diamond’s career, including Sweet Caroline, Cracklin’ Rosie, I’m a Believer, I Am… I Said and many more. ’Song Sung Blue’ is a love letter to Neil Diamond which will evoke memories of heyday performances from the 1960s, ‘70s and ‘80s, and will pull at both the feet and the heartstrings, promising to have Neil Diamond fans, old and new, singing along all night. An evening with the most talented guitarists and vocals to touch the soul from original folk to alternative acoustic music with two unique folk acts. Expect intricate guitar playing on acoustics, 12 strings, mandolins, harmonica and soulful lyrics to accompany the heartfelt song writing. Singer songwriter Tom Mally’s influences are Bob Dylan, Van Morrison, Ray Lamontagne, The Dubliners and Christy Moore. Murder Mystery Night – A Western Way to Go Saturday 28 September 7pm The Abbey Schoolroom, Church Street, NR18 0PH
Howdy, partners it’s a Wild Western hoedown at That Little Norfolk Shop and Studio. It’s going to be quite the shindig with line dancing, country singing and…murder! The Sheriff is not in a party mood. He is hellbent on catching an outlaw that he believes to be present at the hoedown. Unfortunately, he has no idea what the outlaw looks like and there are a lot of shifty looking western folk, all with things they want to hide from the law. Will the Sheriff’s determination get him into trouble with the other cowboys? Or, will the Sheriff put an end to the outlaws torment? Either way, someone will face a western way to go…for good! A Western Way To Go Murder Mystery by Yellow Mysteries Entertainment – Murder Mystery Hosting Service. Interrogate the suspects, listen to clues and solve a murder whilst filling your boots with a fancy evening buffet and drinks from the bar saloon. So dig out your boots, checked shirts and cowboy hats (though dressing in costume is optional) and arrive by 7pm for a welcome fizz. £35 per person and includes a welcome prosecco or fruit juice and buffet. Demystifying Poetry with Heidi Williamson Saturday 28th September 2-4pm Kett’s Books 11 Market Place NR18 0AS
Do you find modern poetry a bit puzzling? Or wish to know more about how the classics work? Or maybe you’d like tips and techniques to improve your own poems. In this fun, 2-hour workshop, you’ll look at some modern and some classic poems, read them aloud, discuss how they’re working, and talk about what makes a poem a poem. Come along and have your questions about poetry answered.
Wymondham-based poet Heidi Williamson has published three award-winning collections with Bloodaxe. She holds a Masters in Creative Writing from Oxford University and teaches for many UK arts organisations. Previously Royal Literary Fund Fellow at the University of East Anglia, she has also been Writer-in-Residence at the John Jarrold Printing Museum and Poet-in-Residence at the London Science Museum’s Dana Centre.
