Kick off the festive season in Wymondham!
Wymondham’s Festive Lights Switch-On Sunday 1 December 3 – 6.30pm hosted by BBC Radio Norfolk’s Kayleigh Poacher.
Get ready for an afternoon packed with festive fun, sparkling lights, and plenty of festive cheer. Here’s what’s in store:
Independent Shops & Cafes: Browse Wymondham’s brilliant independent shops open from 3pm for unique gifts, relax in cosy cafés, historic pubs with roaring fires, and community venues offering festive foodie treats.
Santa’s Sleigh Arrival & Grotto: Catch Father Christmas making his entrance at 2.45pm travelling from Back Lane, to Town Green, along Middleton Street, Market Street to the Market Place then visit him in his magical grotto at Money Properties and Money Lettings at 17-18 Market Place.
Live Music: Enjoy performances from The Voice Junction, Young Rebels, Wymondham Rock Choir, and *The Ivys Band*.
Vintage Bus, Festive Film & Activities at Town Green: Hop aboard a vintage bus, catch a festive film, and enjoy activities, sip at an outdoor bar, and delicious treats at Town Green Garden Cafe.
Jingling Elves, Puppets & Funfair Rides: Plenty of entertainment for kids (and big kids!).
Wymondham Farmers Market & Local Stalls: Discover fabulous finds and festive flavours from local businesses and community stalls.
Norfolk Creations Christmas Market at Becket’s Chapel on Church Street: Pick up handcrafted gifts and treasures at this charming market.
Festive Food & Drink: Mulled wine, mince pies, and more – indulge in seasonal treats galore.
Christmas Window Displays & Naughty Elf Trail: Explore beautifully decorated shopfronts and join the hunt for Wymondham’s cheekiest elves in Christmas windows!
A Touch of Tradition: at 5pm, step into the awe-inspiring Wymondham Abbey for their Advent Carol Service – an enchanting mix of readings, music, and carols that beautifully mark the season’s journey from darkness to light.
From 5pm onwards it’s the Grand Finale: Gather in the Market Place for the spectacular light switch-on countdown, followed by a dazzling fire show and more live music to close the evening.
With something for everyone, Wymondham’s Festive Lights Switch-On promises to be a magical event for the whole family.
