Free Experience Day
South Norfolk Model Flying Club
Experience Day – Free Event to promote Radio Controlled Model Flying
Sponsored by The British Model Flying Association (BMFA)
Welcome
Visitors are encouraged to come along to the club’s flying site to not only see what we do but to also have a go at flying a model aircraft.
All visitors partaking in the Flying Experience are covered by the BMFA insurance.
View from the cockpit
One aspect of model flying is something called First Person View where the pilot can wear a pair of goggles which allows them to connect to a camera on the model. This gives a pilot’s view of the flight. You will be given the opportunity to wear the googles to see this for yourself whilst the model is being flown by an experienced pilot.
Fly a Radio-Controlled Model Aeroplane
Feel free to have a go at flying a model yourself.
A training aeroplane is connected with dual controls. The pilot will take off and get the aeroplane to the flying height. Control of the aeroplane will then be transferred to you, and under the direction of the pilot, you get to fly around the airfield. Don’t worry if you get in a mess as the pilot can easily take over the controls!
Flight Simulator
Have a go on the BMFA Flight Simulator, no worries of crashing or getting dizzy.
Static Display
Throughout the day there will be a number of different model aeroplanes flying and there will also be some for you to have a closer look at in the pits area. The Club Members will be happy to talk about their models.
Barbeque
There will be a free BBQ running during the day, providing in the morning bacon rolls and at lunchtime Sausages and Beefburgers. If you wish to bring your own food that is fine. There are a couple of picnic tables which are available for use.
